This striped sensation is one of the most decorated of the Philodendron family. Bright white inky banding adorns each of the small heart-shaped leaves. As a point of difference from other patterned plants, the variegation is whiter and brighter on the new growth, slowly graduating down the plant’s leaves to reveal darker, richer jungle greens. A top-lit luxury that will glow up smaller spaces.
Philodendron White Wave Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Get the light right! Has your plant lost its stripes? Moving it to a brighter position will encourage new white stripes.
Wilting away! This sensitive plant won’t thank you for direct light, leaves will fade and wilt, eventually dropping off. Solve with more shade.
Too dry to cry! Your plant is telling you it is too dry if brown leaf tips appear and start creeping up the leaves. Regular misting or moving to a humid room will remedy this.
Light
Philodendron White Wave is happy in a shaded area but best in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves, taking a long time to recover.
Watering
Water little and often, keeping the soil moist at all times. Allow the top of the soil to slightly dry out in-between watering. Water less during the winter. Will tolerate some degree of drought better than being too wet.
Temperature
Average to warm household temperatures from 18-28°C and short periods down to 13°C at an absolute push. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Philodendrons are versatile when it comes to humidity levels, however, a good misting on those dry days will help keep the foliage looking fresh.
Feed
Apply a weak solution of liquid fertiliser once a month during the growing season. Do not feed during the winter.
Height & Growth Rate
A smaller and slower grower than other Philodendron. Mature Philodendron White Wave plants can reach an indoor height of up to 1m.
Toxicity
These plants are poisonous to pets and people. Keep plants away from children and pets and take care when handling.
Air Purifying
Philodendron filter airborne toxins such as such as formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene from the atmosphere and they are part of our clean air plant collection.
Origin
Philodendron White Wave is a cultivar of the Philodendron Rojo Congo.
