Dracaena fragrans White Jewel Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Full to Base! If left to its own devices the plant will grow upwards and have leaves from tip to toe. If you want a more stemmed variety, simply remove some lower leaves.
Can’t handle the heat! These plants look like they like direct light, however too much sun will cause leaf streaking and eventually burning. Remove damage and remedy with some shade.
Manage and Maintain! Inconsistent levels of water, temperature and light can damage some leaves beyond repair. Thankfully these can be torn in half lengthways and pulled out.
Light
Dracaena White Jewel will thrive in partial shade, but likes 2-3 hours of bright indirect sunlight per day. Keep away from direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves.
Watering
Water when the soil starts to dry-out at the top. Water well and allow to drain thoroughly. Dracaena are relatively drought tolerant. Do not overwater as this will cause the leaf tips to blacken.
Temperature
Dracaena fragrans White Jewel prefers average household temperatures between 16-24°C but can cope with as low as 12°C for short periods.
Humidity
Dracaena are hardy and will do well in normal room humidity, however they do prefer higher humidity and will benefit from occasional misting.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of a fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
Dracaena White Jewel is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 1 to 2 metres.
